Nick sat next to Adrien's hospital bed, reading a magazine. He wasn't too worried- the surgery had been minor and successful, and the doctors said Adrien would be loopy when he woke up, but should be fine.

Adrien's whole body felt heavy as he opened his eyes and glanced around the room. Where was he?

"Hey," Nick said gently, putting the magazine aside. "How are you feeling, big guy?"

Adrien blinked, taking in the man sitting next to him. He looked up at the ceiling, trying to get his eyes to adjust. Was this real? He remembered going to the hospital, but that was it.

"Did the doctors send you?"

Nick smiled and pushed back some of Adrien's hair. "No, I came with you," he said with a smile.

Adrien squinted his eyes; he didn't believe him.

"You came with me?" he repeated. "That can't be right... You're way too beautiful."

Nick hesitated, pulling his hand back. "Huh?"

"Are you a model or something? Are you doing hospital visitations today?"

"What?" Nick said. He was totally floored. Adrien said nice stuff to him all the time, but this was very... Nick blushed. "No, I'm not- I'm not a model."

Adrien frowned.

"Oh," he sighed. "I'm sorry to embarrass you, but you are eye. candy. If you're not a model, you should be."

"Wow," Nick said. It'd probably be really mean to film this, huh? "I am reminding you of this every day for all eternity."

"What do you mean 'eternity?'" Adrien asked, eyes taking in every inch of this stranger's face. "What's your name?"

"I'm Nick," he said. He half-smiled at him. "I'm your husband, actually."

"...What."

Nick tried not to smile, but it was very hard. He brought out his left hand and tapped the gold ring on his finger. "For almost a whole year," he said, and now he did smile.

Adrien rest his head back onto the pillow and smiled back.

"Wow. I'm married to a knockout. I hit the jackpot."

Nick laughed this time, shaking his head. "No, I- I got lucky with you."

Adrien didn't respond. He just continued to look Nick over with complete adoration.

"A year, huh? So we must have kissed by now?"

"A few times, yes," Nick said, unable to stop from laughing again. "And we dated for a long time before we got married. Since we were sixteen, actually. So we've kissed a few times."

"Oh man," Adrien sighed, closing his eyes for just a moment. "...Do we have any kids?"

Nick smiled at him. "No," he said. "Maybe one day."

"Hmm," Adrien nodded. "Can I hold your hand?"

"I don't know," Nick teased. "How do I know you'll be nice?"

"I think I am."

Nick smiled and gave him his hand. "You're right," he said. "You are."

Adrien smiled, pleased with himself. He laced fingers with Nick tightly.

"Are you feeling okay?" Nick asked. He pushed Adrien's hair off his face with his free hand.

Adrien promptly blushed, skin hot under Nick's touch.

"...Uh huh."

"You're a pretty good husband," Nick mused. "Mostly."

"Mostly?!" Adrien squeaked. "What have I done?"

"You," Nick said, ducking down to look at Adrien. "Hog the covers. And when it's cold outside, you put your cold feet right on my legs!"

Adrien grinned.

"I am not responsible for Asleep Adrien."

"You're awake!" Nick accused. "You go take the dog out- your dog, Frankie, who only tolerates me but adores you- and then you run in the house real fast and jump in bed and put your cold feet on my legs and your cold hands on my back!"

"I have a dog?!" Adrien beamed.

Nick huffed. "Scoot over," he said, climbing into the bed with Adrien. He pulled out his phone and scrolled until he found a picture of Adrien with Frankie. He showed him the picture.
